AI Interpreter sits between you and a patient who speaks another language. You speak; the patient hears their language. They speak; you hear yours. The whole exchange is transcribed, and a clinical note is generated from it afterwards.
- Open AI Interpreter and choose the patient in Search or add patient name — the same patient list as AI Scribe, so the session and its note attach to the chart you already use.
- Set Clinician language and Patient language.
- Enable audio when the browser asks, and start the session. The transcript builds as you both talk, marked by speaker.
- End the session. You will see Generating note in background — the note is added to the patient as soon as it is ready, so you can close the screen.
History lists past sessions and is searchable; open one to re-read the transcript or the note.
Good to know
- Available languages include Spanish, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Italian and Japanese alongside English; the picker shows the current list.
- It is one microphone in one room. Put the device where it hears both of you — the same rule that governs scribe audio quality.
- A session with no audible speech produces no note. If the note says Translation pending or never arrives, check the transcript first: an empty transcript is an audio problem, not a note problem.
- AI Interpreter is included for every user on the account; nothing has to be unlocked.
It does not replace a certified medical interpreter where your policy or your payer requires one. Treat it the way you treat any AI output: read it before you rely on it.
